Nyhetshistorier om dødshjelp: En analyse av personfokuserte nyheter om eutanasi i norske medier

Abstract

This article presents a textual analysis of how Norwegian news media report on euthanasia in their feature stories from 2009 to 2020. 86 different news stories with a personal history on euthanasia are identified. The analysis shows that these stories promote a positive attitude towards legalizing euthanasia, and that they highlight autonomy, freedom and independence as core elements of human dignity. The stories have an individualistic focus, consistently downplaying the perspective of the wider community and contributing to a legitimization discourse.
